About Me

You can call me Victoria, Victoria Paige, Mommy, or anything else -- just don't call me Vicki! I am a stay-at-home-mother and wife. I enjoy spending time with my daughter, sewing, cooking, writing (blogging) and looking at beautiful things.

I discovered my love for fabric and quilting quite unexpectedly. I really have to give my Great Aunt Terry total credit for getting me into it. Last June, I went to Pennsylvania to visit my mom's side of the family. I was about 3 months pregnant at the time. My Aunt Terry wanted to take me to her local Mennonite quilt shop and buy me the things I needed to make a baby quilt. I have to be honest - I was not thrilled with the idea at first. I wasn't that confident I could even sew a straight line let alone piece and quilt a whole baby blanket. I politely accepted her offer because that's who I am.

When we got there, I looked through a few beginner books and picked out a quilt pattern that I thought would be fairly easy for someone who had never touched a sewing machine. As I walked up and down the aisles of fabric fondling every bolt, my eyes widened and delight filled my body. There was so much to choose from, and it became very difficult for me to make a decision, but i finally picked out the fabric I needed to make this quilt. I took my gifted fabric and notions home with me, and I couldn't wait to get back and start sewing.

When I got home, the excitement dissipated. It took me two weeks to get a sewing machine, and by that time the fabric and notions had been sitting in the corner of my office and I had lost interest. I was afraid this would be another thing that someone had spent money on that I wouldn't go through with (I had a habit of starting hobbies and never sticking to them when I was a child).

July and August went, and September came - yes September! I still hadn't worked on the quilt at all. It all still sat in the corner in the office. Finally I was so bored one day that I just pulled it all out and started cutting fabric. I worked on it all day for the next four or five days until it was finished. By no means was it perfect, but it was made with love! Aubrielle plays on it and really enjoys looking at all the different fabrics and colors. You can see the quilt here.

I just recently decided to open my own Etsy shop. It is also called Boutique Uniquely. If you see something you like here, I can recreate it for you to suit your needs. You can visit me on Etsy, Facebook, or email me for more information.
